Time flows differently here in CDO. While we have no way of knowing how it is relative to the 'real' world, time seems to flow a bit faster in CDO. However, OOCly speaking, it's subjective. Time is what you make of it. Want it to take one real-life year before one in-game year passes for your character? Then that's how it works! Someone else wants their character to go through a year in a month? Then that's valid too. Time isn't something that needs to be acknowledged by and large, but for people who want their characters to grow physically or who want to be able to remark how long it's been since they started to play CDO set whatever standard of time is most comfortable for you. For those who are seeking suggestions, my own personal yardstick is six in-real-life months equals about a year in the game.
The only word of caution on the matter is that if there's people whom you roleplay with frequently, you may need to be mindful of conflicting timelines. It might be awkward if your character experiences a year of time where your friends' characters only experience a couple months. You may need to find excuses for this discrepancy if it comes up in conversation.
