The Basics
Name: Discord
Username: N/A
Race: Tiefling
Class: NPC
Role: N/A
Profession: Cursemaster
Level: 6
The Powers
Abilities
Elemental Resistance: You treat Fire attacks as one power level lower. (Light becomes Weak, Moderate becomes Light, etc. Weak is completely negated.)
Drawback: Tieflings are largely mistrusted by NPCs. You start with -10 reputation in every zone and can only cap at 90 reputation as opposed to 100.
Other
Ally Shield: Not to be confused with "Shield Ally." Using Ally Shield, if Discord is the target of an attack while adjacent to an ally, he may use an action to attempt to pull them into the attack. The ally can dodge this ability, leaving Discord as the target of the attack. If the ally chooses not to dodge or is out of dodges, they are pulled into the attack, which is then resolved as though they were the intended target.
An ally can be the target of Ally Shield only once per combat, regardless of success though if they stay next to Discord after the first time, it would serve them right if he did it again. Ally Shield is a PvP zone ability.
Divine Hellfire: Discord can strike a target with a gout of flame that appears to erupt from the earth or crash down from the sky, dealing Strong Fire damage and alternates between dealing additional Moderate Dark or Bright damage (i.e. it doesn't do the same type twice in a row).
Selfish Healing: Discord retains a measure of his Light-given power, twisted though it may be. He can heal up to Moderate wounds, but when he heals anyone other than himself, healing effects from sources other than him are painful and affect the target at one power level lower (Moderate healing becomes Light, Light becomes Weak, etc) for 3 rounds.
The Stuff
Equipped Items
1. Blade of the Fallen - This bastard sword was originally an artifact drop, the dark counterpart to Cedric's Sword of the Shining Knight. It got nerfed along with practically everything else in the game, but it remains a formidable weapon. It deals Moderate physical and Strong Dark damage, or deals the same damage one level lower if used one-handed.
Once per target, instead of dealing its Dark damage, it can be used to diminish an opponent's abilities, debuffing one Strong or lesser power by one power level for one round.
2. Armor of Retribution - This spiked full plate provides Moderate defense against both physical and Dark attacks, and deals Light Bright damage to the attacker when the wearer is damaged by an attack. This damaging ability is not triggered by area effect spells/abilities.
Due to the sharp spikes, anyone who attacks the wearer with a natural weapon (fists, claws, teeth, etc) sustains a Light physical wound as well, unless they take two actions to set up their attack to avoid the armor spikes. Creatures with animal intelligence do not have this option.
3. Conditional Compassion - Granted to Discord by an unknown benefactor, these black gauntlets terminate in sharp clawlike tips that deal Light physical and Fire damage when used as a weapon. When touching a willing person, the gauntlets enable Discord to remove one Moderate or lesser debuff status affecting them. However, if a person so aided refuses an order given by Discord or otherwise hinders his actions at any point during the rest of combat, he may return the debuff to them at one power level higher, capping at Moderate.Backpack
2. Silk Rope - Can be cut or broken with a Light blade or Weak Fire
3. Tarnished Symbol of the Light - This hasn't been polished in a while. Still heals one Weak wound every round of combat. Or would, if you'd wear it.
4. Handful of Kobold Scales - These scales imbue items that are Transmogrified with Earth element
5. Sun Ring - 6 gp - This poorly made silver ring has a small picture of the Sun stamped into it.

Character Appearance: Discord is tall and broad through the chest and shoulders, striking an imposing figure in or out of armor. Out of armor, he wears a long, fitted coat of dark brown leather with abstract designs tooled from the waist down, over a waistcoat and shirt topped with a Steinkirk cravat, each in a rich reddish-brown.
His fiery orange hair is long, thick, and wavy and completely impractical for a fighter of any type, but they use game logic here, so it's fine. He's rather vain about it. He's vain about a lot, honestly. He has thick-lashed red eyes, a straight nose, full lips, and horns like polished mahogany. They're shaped a bit like bovine horns, but don't extend out from the sides of his head and are far taller than they are wide, hugging his skull as they curve upward and then outward as they taper to sharp points.
Personality: Discord is proud by nature, and bitter by circumstance. He holds onto hurts and grudges, and is currently in a stage of lashing out to repay those injuries. He tries to think of other people as tools or possessions - positions that leave him in control and able to discard them if they outlive their usefulness or begin to vex him - but he hasn't been long from his faith. Now, the pain is fresh and he's angry, but he's also not yet made a habit of these things.
As it stands, he's a decent acquaintance and casual lover, but a suspicious, punishing ally, and will likely grow possessive of any who manage to achieve the dubious honour of becoming a friend or committed lover. To those who pique his interest, he can be charming and charismatic, or gently patient with soft words and a soothing hand, whatever is needed to draw them to him and let him hurt them.
Meta: Discord was designed to be Cedric's counterpart in a high level quest chain, where players could choose a side to support and affect the NPC's end. Discord could be aided directly and end at the bottom of his downward spiral as a villain, he could eventually be redeemed and return to the service of the Light, or he could become a sort of embittered antihero. It was speculated that Discord's fate would eventually be set in stone in later expansions after the most popular path was determined, possibly setting the quests on a more linear chain or retiring the quests completely and putting him into a new role as a questgiver for a new plotline. Now, whatever the quests would have been, there's just Discord and a host of possibilities.
Lore: Discord was a bastard born to a noble family and shipped off to an Uncle to be raised as a warrior of the Light after a more suitable (read: human) and legitimate heir was born. He lived in ignorance of this fact for years, excelling in his training and growing strong in the Light. When he discovered the truth about his heritage, that he'd been essentially cast aside and what he thought he knew was a lie, he took it...poorly.
Hurt and betrayed, he rejected his faith and the family that had raised him, unable to trust either after knowing what they had kept hidden from him. Now he follows the path of self interest, believing that he is the only one he can truly trust, and seeks to claim his birthright, regardless of who he has to step on to achieve it.
