The Powers
Abilities
Racial
Elemental Resistance: You treat Sonic attacks as one power level lower. (Light becomes Weak, Moderate becomes Light, etc. Weak is completely negated.)
Drawback: Tieflings are largely mistrusted by NPCs. You start with -10 reputation in every zone and can only cap at 90 reputation as opposed to 100.
Class
Perk: Party on! The first ability the bard uses to affect their party lasts for one round after they stop actively sustaining the ability.
Performances - Unless stated otherwise in the description, a performance takes one action to begin and lasts until Thorn chooses to conclude it, begins a different performance, or until the end of combat. Taking damage during a performance takes away one action, as she has to expend extra effort to maintain it.
Inspire Confidence - (Strong Vocal Performance) - This rousing performance bolsters listeners' morale, enabling them to resist manipulation and increasing their combat prowess.
Thorn and up to 3 allies gain Moderate defense against items and abilities that affect the mind, and their physical damage is increased by one level, capping at Strong. Changing the selected targets costs one action per target changed.
Scathing Tirade - (Moderate Oratory Performance) - Thorn verbally lashes at single target, causing it to become frightened (WPP). The target must be able to both see and hear Thorn to be affected. Though he can only direct this performance at one target at a time, affected targets remain frightened as long as she maintains the performance.
Directing the tirade at a new target takes one action, and only one target may be focused on per round (can't tirade against 3 targets in the same round by using up all three actions).
Sound Wall - (Light Vocal Performance) - This performance of undulating, wordless song creates a translucent, immobile barrier of pure sound. This wall is silent except for a faint hum, but bursts with discordant noise when touched by an object or creature. The wall deflects ranged attacks with a burst of noise, causing them to bounce back harmlessly. The discordant noise that results deals Light SONIC damage to nearby creatures on that side of the wall.
Touching or passing through the wall deals two Light bursts of SONIC damage. If the wall is created so that it appears where creatures already are, each creature takes damage as if passing through the wall. If Thorn is somehow silenced, this ends the performance and removes the wall.
Center of the Universe - (Light Dance Performance) - This dance draws the eyes, distracting targets from others present. Up to three targets who can see Thorn's dance become enraptured with her movements, ignoring the actions of allies and enemies alike. If a target can't see her, they are not affected. If a target takes any damage, the effect ends for them and their attention can't be recaptured unless the performance ends and a new one is begun. (WPP)
Thorn is treated as having one less dodge while maintaining this performance.
Finales - To activate a finale, Thorn concludes his performance with a flourish, triggering the effect. While ending a performance normally doesn't take an action, to end one with a Finale takes one action. A finale cannot be activated during the round in which the performance was begun, nor can one be activated independent of a performance.
Purging Finale - (Moderate) - Thorn ends his performance with a rapturous shout, canceling one status debuff on up to three targets.
Healing Finale - (Light) - Thorn ends her performance with a flowing decrescendo, healing up to three targets.
Diva's Finale - (Weak) - Thorn ends his performance with a glare and a piercing 'how DARE you?' to inflict SONIC damage on up to three targets.
The Stuff
Equipped Items
1. Rose Whip - (Moderate) - This whip appears to be made from interwoven vines, with tiny white blooms dotting it here and there. In this form, it does only Weak physical damage, but at will, the wielder can cause wickedly sharp thorns to grow along the length, increasing its physical damage to Moderate.
2. Rosewood Armor - (Strong) - This suit of leather armor is wrapped in thorny rose vines that are treated as armor spikes. These spikes deal Moderate NATURE damage to enemies who strike the wearer with a natural weapon or attempt to grapple with them.
The armor itself provides Light protection from physical damage and Strong protection from Nature, Water, and Earth damage, but Fire effects are treated as one level higher. Once the wearer takes one Moderate wound from Fire, the vines burn away and grow back at the end of combat.
3. Roseskin Comb - (Light) - For when you don't want armor to ruin your look, but you still want some protection. When worn in the hair, this green copper and pink alabaster comb grants Light protection from physical and magical effects.
Once per thread, the wearer can cause sharp barbs to grow from their skin for 3 rounds. These barbs deal Light physical damage to those who touch the wearer directly. This effect cannot be used in combination with armor.
4. Seducer's Bane - (Moderate) - This slender silver bracelet is worked in an intertwined design of three flowers symbolizing concealment, treachery, and falsehood. The bracelet grants the wearer a keen insight into the motives of others (WPP), and enables them to resist spells and effects that can cause them to do what the caster wishes (A spell that forces them to treat the caster as an ally may be countered by the bracelet, but a spell that just makes them feel helpful in general is not). The caster of the spell believes the spell to have been successful until the wearer acts in a manner that is contradictory to the spell's effect.
Backpack
1. Courtier's Gown - (N/A) Dark blue with a subtle thorn pattern woven into the bodice (not that the aesthetic theme with this character is subtle at all).
2. Courtier's Fan - (Weak) - A silk folding hand fan with a hard metal frame. Good for flirting, cooling off, and smacking rude people for physical damage.
3. Luminous Cat - 50g - This silky black cat has glowing blue eyes and can glow in the dark with a soft blue aura at will.

Character Appearance: Thorn is a relatively slight tiefling, standing at about 5'2". His appearance is in flux a fair bit due to Rose, the player, liking to drop gold on new hair or facial features somewhat regularly. But now that Rose IS Thorn, that might slow down a bit. Or speed up. Who knows? At present, however, Thorn has dark skin, orange-gold eyes, and deep, dark blue hair that comes down to her chin. His equipment and clothing is heavy on the rose motif.
Personality: Rose roleplayed his alter-ego, Thorn, as a kind of court diva with a lot of flounce and dramatics, but with a good deal of savvy and wit behind the primadonna facade. Rose herself, however...flounce and dramatics are for the stage. He's more often socially mature, makes a good mediator between friends, though has little patience for stupidity. She has had no experience with, say, fighting kobolds or even humans in real life, so all that takes a back seat to just being a scared teenager at times. Of course, now that 'stage' and 'real life' are kind of weirdly blurred, he might step into Thorn's role to hide behind the familiar and try to forget that she's IN CDO.
