DO WANT
- For the most part, feel free to throw whatever you like at my characters. Any specific thing that I don't want for them will be in their profile. Just give me a heads-up if you're about to do a HORRIBLE THING.
- Ploooots. Hit me with ALL OF THE IDEAS, I love them.
- Developing relationships of all kinds with other characters is AWESOME. Want to be friends with one of mine? Think your character might meet mine and end up hating them with the burning fury of a thousand suns? Want to attempt a ship? Great! Let's do it! I'm really fond of the slow buildup, and some of my characters will take time to warm up to someone, but I do have others who are pretty quick to attach themselves. Just be aware that things aren't guaranteed to go a certain way.
- Conflict is SUPER awesome. Don't worry about upsetting me if your character picks a fight or bites my character's head off. Drama and ICC (in-character consequences) is delightful.
- Speaking of ICC, YES PLZ. If my characters fuck up or do something stupid, I fully expect that they face the music, and I will enjoy the fallout as much as they likely won't.
- I love romance, be it reciprocal, one-sided, awkward, rivalmance, with any gender or orientation, mono- or poly- etc.
- Minor godmoding is okay. Stuff like pulling my character along by the wrist, ninja hugs, sudden devastating tickle attacks; it's all good as long as I can have my character react.
DO NOT WANT
- Suddenly, un-foreshadowed doom that there is no way out of. While I do like Bad Things Happening to my characters, I don't like it to be with no warning. Now, if Bad Thing is a result of their IC behaviour, I don't need much of a heads-up there. ICA = ICC and all that. But if it's something plotty/big that may affect my characters permanently (dismemberment, death, etc), I just don't want the big reveal to be after the IC point of no return.
- Insta-ships. I love shipping, but I'm not a fan of forcing a ship. If my character's just not that into someone when we start playing stuff out, it's not likely to work out long-term. That doesn't mean the two can't be played off of each other, and 'this isn't working' can be the basis of some OOC fun and IC awkward interaction, it just means they aren't a good match.
- My characters as your Greek chorus. I want to roleplay and be involved. I don't want to end up in the background with my characters looking around and going 'well, that happened' while your own characters interact with each other to exclusion of everyone else. Note: I have no problem with one person's characters knowing each other or talking to each other in a thread. I have characters I do that with myself. What I don't like is when it's taken to the point where everyone else's characters are ignored or otherwise treated as a passive audience who should let people know what happened later.
- Assuming I know what you want/mean if you don't actually tell me in words. Though I've been called psychic before, I'm not actually a mind reader. If you're not feeling a plot we've started, or if you're worried about something in the thread, or you really want it to go in a certain direction, tell me. If you keep posting/participating, there's no way I'm going to be able to figure out that you'd rather be doing something else. Sometimes things sound better in planning than they actually go in RP. That's cool. Just tell me 'Yo, this isn't working so well for me,' and we can work out a different direction or just bring things to a quick end. No sense sacrificing pretendy fun times for a plot that's not being fun.
- Image-heavy post templates in my threads. I'm on dialup. (Yes, it still exists.) I'm not gonna police what people want in their own threads, since, yanno, those are their threads. But in threads that I've started myself, please don't use templates that include images, large images in general, .gifsets, or YouTube videos. They take time to load, and it futzes with the layout on Proboards mobile, sometimes to the point where you can't actually read the whole post, so I'd rather not have to deal with them.
